Ninas' Biography

Nina at Blairstown Theatre. Nina is the youngest of 8 children and was raised in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. She started playing guitar at the age of 13 and started writing her own songs at the age of 22.

Prior to writing music for children and their families, Nina performed throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey in various different bands, including: Nina and Dina (folk duo), Tarpockets, and most recently with Jackknife Betty – a folk, rock and blues all-girl, all acoustic trio. She also released a cd, “New York Daydream”, which contained ten of her original folk/rock styled tunes. Listen

She started writing music for children about a year ago. The songs and melodies came easily and quickly, and Nina realized that her true joy came from writing and singing simple, upbeat and engaging tunes.

Now Nina is in the process of completing her first cd of family music, “Shake, Shake, Shake”. It’s a collaborative effort between Nina and members of her family with songs that encourage movement and participation. These types of songs carry over well onto the live stage and highlight Nina’s energetic and participatory stage show. Often times, Nina will even invite her fans up on the stage to “shake an egg” with her and the band.

Scrappys' Biography

Scrappy with his toy mouse. Scrappy found Nina on a very chilly New Year’s Eve. Nina noticed that Scrappy was limping and her paw and half of her whiskers had burned – it also looked like the tip of her tail was broken.

Nina took her in to the house, warmed her up and gave her a good meal. After several days and a doctor’s visit, she was on her way to a full recovery. She was a tiny, little fur ball, but she had a fighting spirit…energetic, playful, but most of all loving. Nina didn’t have a hard time picking out a name for this new addition, the little cat’s personality said it all…she was a scrappy one, so Scrappy she became. Scrappy and Nina have been best friends ever since.

Scrappy is unmanageable (not managed by a professional consulting firm, rather she remains independent - she is a cat, after all!) As long as she gets in her 20 hours of sleep a day and her 6:30 am and 4:00pm feedings, she’s happy.
